YouTube influencer, Jaclyn Hill, is no stranger to cosmetics. The 28-year-old influencer began making a name for herself by posting in-depth makeup tutorials, beauty videos, and more. Gaining a massive following, she began receiving invitations to do collaborations with beauty brands such as BECCA Cosmetics and Morphe Cosmetics. Now the beauty maven has set off on her own and launched her own cosmetic line, Jaclyn Hills Cosmetics, to her 6 million fans.
One of the most surprising things about the lipsticks, which launched just yesterday, is that although there are a variety of colors, they are all nude lipsticks. It was important for Hill to launch the collection with a variety of shades because the brand claims to be big on skin tone inclusivity. With 20 different shades to choose from, we hope that people of every color can find a shade to complement their unique skin tone.
Hill sat down with Allure and spoke about why it was so important for the products to be inclusive and why she chose to launch nude lipsticks rather than a more colorful palette for her lipstick collection. “I feel like when every single brand launches a collection, whether it’s 10 colors, 15, 20, it’s predominately colorful shades. They’ll launch 15, 16 oranges, reds, and purples, but give us four nudes. And those four nudes are supposed to work for every skin tone? You can never have too many nudes, so I wanted to create a line that everyone — male, female, old, young — can be like, alright, this brand is going to have a beautiful nude to match my skin amazingly.” the YouTube star said passionately.
The lipsticks are packaged in a weighted, silver tube and have bursts of silver shimmer on them as well. It’s the kind of pretty packaging that we’ve come to expect from Hill. But, at the risk of sounding extremely cheesy, it’s what’s on the inside of the package that truly counts. The lipstick itself boasts collagen to help keep lips looking firm and young and also is packed with ingredients like mango and shea butter to help with moisture and smoothness.
But the most surprising thing about the So Rich Lipsticks is not the color, the ingredients, or the packaging, but rather the scent. Each lipstick is specially formulated to smell like vanilla cake. If that’s not a good product marketing strategy, we don’t know what is.
It seems that Hill’s followers are already pining over the new cosmetic collection, as many of the lipsticks are already sold out. Missed a chance to grab your favorite shade? Don’t fret, Hill has assured fans that there will be a restock by the end of June. In the meantime, might we suggest just having a slice of cake when you put on your makeup?
